World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated every year on 05 June, and is the United Nation policy to spread action and awareness for the protection of the environment. WED is first celebrated on 1974 for raising awareness on environment issue such as global warning, human overpopulation, marine population, wildlife crime and sustainable consumption. Every year, World Environment Day has provided a theme for communities, business, non government organization and celebrities to protect environment. It’s a global platform for public outreach, with participate around 143 countries around the globe.
World Environment Day – Date, Theme, History
History: WED was made in 1972 by United Nations on the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, resulting from discussion about the harm on environment due to humans activities. First WED was held two years earlier with a theme name “Only One Earth”. From that theme idea begins and it start rotating around the globe.
