Why it is celebrated?
A father always tries to do the right thing no matter what it costs to himself. He always tries to make it up what’s best for his children. A father figure is thoughtful, generous and honest to his child all through his life and tries to reward everything his child wishes for. Most of the children attribute much of who they are as a person to their fathers and imbibes the values from father’s only and so one should take time to thank him for his dedication to the family.
A father always smiles, no matter what the circumstances are and that gives the strength and inspiration to face all problems that a family goes through. Basically Dads never let the issues touch his family and act as a barrier to protect his family at the most. Parents have made us understand what life is about and how to find that little ray of happiness in difficult situations.
How did this Day originate?
Father’s Day traces go back to the Middle Ages when the celebration of fatherhood was done with a customary day in Catholic Europe on March 19.
Father’s Day was originally founded in Spokane, Washington at the YMCA in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd, who was born in Arkansas.
Its first celebration was in the Spokane YMCA on June 19, 1910. Her father, the Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, was a single parent who raised his six children there and this could be counted as an acknowledgement to their father and so it continues to flourish with each passing year.
