Children’s day is a day dedicated to the children, celebrated on 14th November every year. It is celebrated to give tribute to India’s first Prime Minister, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru. Many people refer it to as Bal Diwas. It is celebrated since the year 1956. It is interesting to know that the Universal Children’s Day falls on 20th November, in relation to the United Nations.

After Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru passed away in the year 1964, it was decided to celebrate the Children’s Day on his birth anniversary keeping in mind his fondness for the children. He was popular amongst the kids by the name Chacha Nehru. After his demise, a resolution passed in the parliament in our constitution in order to honor Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It was decided to celebrate the day of children i.e. children’s day on 14th of November as 14th of November was the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It is celebrated in India to acknowledge children’s rights, education and care.

Getting the guidance of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru came out to be an eminent and prominent leader in India’s Independence struggle. He laid constitution’s foundation of the Independent India into a sovereign, secular, sober and a democratic republic county. This is the reason behind the fact that many people call him the architect of the Modern India.

Being an active member in politics, Panditji was very keen of kids. He usedto get photographed with kids and love them. Kids used to address him as Chacha Nehru as he was their best. Nehru’s beliefs were that children should be cherished and nurtured as they are the future of the country and tomorrow.

Jawaharlal Nehru was famous for his affection, love and care for kids. He taught children their right to education. He believed that children of today will be the future pf tomorrow. The way we will bring them up will the way our country will be tomorrow. He played a major role in establishing many schools and colleges which are still considered to be one of the best in the country. He established many great colleges and universities like AllMS, IIT, IIM, NIT and many more.

In order to celebrate children’s day, schools and colleges organise events and functions including cultural fest, sports fest, motivational seminars, quiz. Schools allow children to wear their casual clothes to school on this particular day in order to make them happy. This day is a reminder for the country that all children deserve education, love, affection and care.
